The 2010 Performance Metrics for Intelligent Systems (PerMIS'10) workshop will be held from Sept. 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency (Baltimore Inner Harbor). It is dedicated to defining measures and methodologies of evaluating performance of intelligent systems. As the only workshop of its kind, PerMIS has proved to be an excellent forum for sharing lessons learned and discussions as well as fostering collaborations between researchers and practitioners from industry, academia and government agencies.

PerMIS'10 will emphasize the *key role of performance assessment in developing intelligent systems that can co-exist with humans* towards improving the quality of our lives intertwined with automation. Adaptability to human-centered collaboration, the ability to cope with unstructured, dynamic environments, and keeping humans out of harm's way have been widely accepted as critical prerequisites. In addition to the main theme, as in previous years, the workshop will focus on applications of performance measures to practical problems in commercial, industrial, homeland security, and military applications.

To commemorate the tenth anniversary, with financial support from the National Science Foundation, undergraduate and graduate students are invited to present posters related to their research on themes relevant to PerMIS'10 (see http://www.nist.gov/mel/isd/upload/CFP-PerMIS2010.pdf for the Call for Papers). We encourage students from Universities to apply for this funding that could support their travel, hotel, and registration fees. Please note that the amount of support will depend on the number of selected applicants.

If interested, the students should complete an application form and email to permis10sps [at] nist.gov (permis10sps[at]nist[dot]gov).

The deadline for the completed applications is *July 14th*.

We look forward to seeing you at PerMIS'10!
