NIST user facilities support innovation in emerging technology areas by providing U.S. scientists with access to world-class neutron measurement capabilities and state-of-the-art nanofabrication facilities.
The customer-focused missions of the NIST user facilities offer safe and reliable operations for the development and application of new measurement and nanofabrication techniques.
NIST requests a total of $44.3 million to provide unique measurement and research capabilities to U.S. scientists. The FY 2019 request is a net decrease of $14.0 million from FY 2018 levels. The proposed reductions, which include $1.2 million in grants, reduce support and defer upgrades for both user facilities.
The NIST user facilities provide researchers from across the country with access to state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation to meet user needs in neutron scattering, nanofabrication and related areas.
