Draft for Public Review

A draft “Plan for Federal Engagement in Developing AI Technical Standards and Related Tools” is now available for public comment at www.nist.gov/topics/artificial-intelligence/ai-standards. This draft reflects input from the public through responses to the Request for Information and the May 30th workshop, as well as comments from Federal agencies. The draft plan recommends four actions for Federal engagement in AI technical standards: bolster AI standards-related knowledge, leadership and coordination among federal agencies; promote focused research on the trustworthiness of AI; support and expand public-private partnerships; and engage with international parties.

Comments will be accepted through Friday, July 19, 2019, at ai_standards [at] nist.gov (ai_standards[at]nist[dot]gov) using comment template. In response to a February Executive Order, a final plan is due on August 10, 2019.
