U.S. CABs Approved as Notified Bodies

The following conformity assessment bodies (CABs) have been formally approved by the European Commission (EC) to serve as Notified Bodies under specific EC Directives in accordance with the Mutual Recognition Agreement between the United States and the European Community (U.S.-EU/EFTA Telecom MRAs).

Notified Bodies do not carry out testing or prepare test reports for the equipment for which a statement of opinion (for the R&TTE Directive) or EU Type Examination Certificate (for the EMC Directive as of April 20, 2016, and for the Radio Equipment Directive as of June 13, 2016) is issued.

U.S. CABs approved as Notified Bodies are responsible for notifying NIST of any relevant changes such as accreditation status and liability insurance, and must fulfill all information/reporting obligations as specified in the Directives and by NIST.

CABs must fully understand the terms under which they are obligated to operate as a condition of notification as a NB.

As the Notifying Authority, NIST is responsible for monitoring the U.S. NBs to ensure continued competence and accreditation.
