Katarina specializes in fiber-forming polymers, surface functionalization, and fiber/fabric properties characterization. They currently work on the Circular Economy for Textiles team. Their present research focus is on developing advanced mechanical recycling methods to increase the fraction of recyclable textiles diverted from incineration/landfill and on enabling rapid, efficient sorting of textiles via spectroscopic methods.
