DNA Analyst Training on Mixture Interpretation Webcast Now Posted Online

On April 12, 2013, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) hosted a workshop for DNA Analysts at its Gaithersburg, Maryland, campus, which was simultaneously webcast to participants across the country. The training allowed forensic DNA analysts to:

  1. Explore how the analytical threshold and stochastic threshold affect data analysis, interpretation, conclusions, and statistical calculations in mixed DNA profiles;
  2. Examine approaches for establishing analytical thresholds and stochastic thresholds for casework; and
  3. Enhance knowledge of mixture interpretation and presentation of results, conclusions, and opinions.

Video of the full 8-hour training session is now available on the DNA Analyst Training on Mixture Interpretation event page along with the agenda, printable slides, and additional conference information. The video is divided into segments so users can easily find specific presentations of interest. Please note that certificates of participation were only available to viewers of the live webcast on April 12th and are not available for viewers of this archived material.
