Semiconducting Polymer Film

NIST materials scientists used dark-field transmission electron microscopy, a high-resolution imaging technique that reveals much about a crystal’s structure and orientation, to examine a semiconducting polymer film.

The colors added to the image show the different orientations of molecules within the film and their relationship to one another.

Knowing this helps researchers predict how well the semiconducting film can carry an electrical charge.
