5535: Calibration Method Validation

This 2 hour webinar on Calibration Method Validation will examine the ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for selection of calibration methods and for method validation and provide guidance on developing a process for validating a new or modified calibration process.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of (or during) this session, using your notes and excerpts from ISO/IEC 17025, participants will be able to:

  • IDENTIFY the requirements for calibration method validation;
  • DESCRIBE example analyses to be conducted as a part of validation;
  • IDENTIFY the documentation retention requirements;
  • ASSESS laboratory procedures for compliance and presence of validation records; and
  • DEVELOP a plan for method validation.

Pre-Work: 

  • Read ISO/IEC 17025 sections regarding laboratory methods and procedures; and
  • Answer pre-work questions and be prepared to discuss them during the session.

Pre-Work Deadline:

The deadline for completion of the pre-work is February 22, 2018.

Post-Work:

Submit evidence of session notes and application of technical audit of lab procedures and/or validation. (Outline to be provided).

Post-Work Deadline:

The deadline for submission of the post-work to the instructor (gharris [at] nist.gov (gharris[at]nist[dot]gov)) is March 1, 2018.

Minimum Requirement(s):

Completion includes completing pre-work assignment, full attendance and participation in the session activities and discussion, and submission of course notes with application asessement from the participant's laboratory.

Audience:

Laboratory personnel who have responsibilities for developing, implementing, and/or improving the quality management system in their laboratory as well as those who are seeking OWM recognition and/or accreditation or improvements to support recognition/accreditation. This course is available for non-weights and measures participants.

Cost:

The current fee for webinars is $199 and confirmed participants will be provided a link to make a payment. Registration fees for State weights and measures regulatory officials and metrologists are funded by NIST OWM. Payment is due by February 12, 2018.
