Nolan Nicholas received his PhD (2009) and MS (2007) degrees in Applied Physics from Rice University under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Smalley and Dr. Robert Hauge and B.S. (2004) degrees in Physics, Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science Engineering from the University of Idaho. Starting with his thesis work on the topics of graphenic and carbon nanotube based materials synthesis and application his research has focused on carbon nanomaterials. His ongoing research at MATRIC Inc. focuses on the application of carbon nanotubes and related materials for high-performance and multifunctional applications including transparent, high-performance polymer composites and self-assembled, multi-functional nanotube materials.
