Abstract: Fluid flow model and linear elasticity model have wide applications in geosciences and biomechanics. For example, blood-vessel wall interactions are modeled by using both fluid flow model and elasticity model. In this presentation, I will discuss the Cahouet-Chabard preconditioner using exact and inexact Multigrid solvers for incompressible fluid flow model, and the two-level domain decomposition methods for linear elasticity model. I will highlight the efficiency, the scalability, and the convergence properties of these algorithms.  

Bio: Dr. Mingchao Cai received his Phd in computational and applied math from HongKong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Before Joining Morgan State University, he worked in several universities including TU-Dortmund and Courant Institute at Newyork University. His main interests are Modeling and numerical simulations of fluid/structure problems with multiphysics, fast iterative solvers, and parallel computing.
