NIST Tours

Due to staffing and security requirements, NIST no longer offers tours for the general public.

  • We are not able to offer student tours at this time. This page will be updated if we are once again able to host student tours in the future.
  • NIST offers a limited number of technically oriented guided tours for professionals in government, industry, and the scientific and technical communities including research universities. Tours are tailored for the interests of the visiting group.

A minimum of four weeks advance notice is required for all tour requests.

  • For tour requests of NIST's Gaithersburg campus, contact the NIST Public Affairs Office at (301) 975-2758.

  • For tour requests of NIST's Boulder campus, contact Jim Burrus with the NIST Public Affairs Office at (303) 497-4789.

  • NIST does not routinely provide scheduled tours for international visitors. However specific technical meetings may be accommodated. Contact Joy Foster with the International and Academic Affairs Office at (301) 975-3071.

All visitors to NIST must follow the campus access and security procedures
