Circular Economy for Textiles

Textile waste comprises a rapidly growing fraction of the United States’ waste stream. Currently, only a very small fraction of textile waste is reclaimed and recycled, and NIST is exploring how to increase this fraction and make the textile and fiber industry more circular.
