Jarred graduated from Penn State in 2015 with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, where he studied the thermal and mechanical response of metal parts during additive manufacturing processing. Before grad school, he worked as a contractor with NIST researching metal cutting processes; specifically how to measure the process to provide more accurate data to validate model predictions. Outside of NIST, Jarred gets his hands greasy repairing and restoring sports cars, sometimes successfully.
Pat has over 30 years of experience in Cybersecurity and worked on various NIST Cybersecurity guidance documents including NISTIR 7621 Small Business Information Security: The Fundamentals.
John Killam is a multifaceted, innovative leader with extensive experience in operations management, manufacturing engineering and optimization, quality management, business development, manufacturing operations, R&D, cost analysis and strategic production planning. John has thirty years experience working for fortune 200 manufacturing companies and is certified in the Toyota Production system by a Shingijutsu Sensei. John is the President/CEO for the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP) where he leads a team of professional consultants in the delivery of growth strategies to improve top line while reducing cost. In the past year alone his team has led manufactures to $55 million increase in new sales and add 490 new jobs. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management with a minor in marketing.
Kathleen Martin is MEP's IT Security Officer and a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP). Her work involves participation in NIST's IT Security Program to establish and enforce security policies and procedures, assess MEP's infrastructure and data to identify vulnerabilities caused by weaknesses or flaws in software and hardware, evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures, and make recommendations to improve security based on assessments and knowledge of current and emerging threats. Previously she was MEP's Database Administrator and administered MEP's Reporting process and client survey.
José A. Colucci Ríos is the NIST MEP Southeast Regional Manager that includes nine states along the east coast and the gulf of Mexico from North Carolina to Louisiana, inland Tennessee and Puerto Rico. Previously, he was a professor and held several administrative positions at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez such as Department Director, Associate R&D Dean and R&D Center Director. In addition, he worked for Union Carbide for eight years from Research Engineer to Market Manager in the Polymers, Specialty Chemicals and Solvents & Coatings divisions.
Elena Garuc is the Executive Director of FuzeHub, New York State's newest MEP Center. For over a decade, Elena has championed economic development initiatives and major marketing programs. In 2012, she was named to the Albany Business Review's "40 Under 40", a prestigious group of up-and-coming business leaders in New York's Capital Region. Before joining FuzeHub, Elena served as Director of Communications and Marketing for the Center for Economic Growth (CEG), the NYMEP Center for the Capital Region. At CEG, she directed economic development initiatives and created successful programs such as an Upstate venture capital forum, biotechnology network, and technology roadmap portal. Today, Elena leads FuzeHub's operations and works closely with its Board of Directors to realize strategic goals.
Beth Colbert is the primary contact for assistance, resources, and sharing for the NIST MEP program partners in 8 states: New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. Prior to joining the National Program, Beth served as the Center Director for the program in Ohio as part of the Ohio Department of Development for 6 years. Most of her career was spent working as a research and development engineer in manufacturing for Dow Chemical, Owens Corning, and Lafarge North America. In her career, she developed products and processes for manufacturing in the construction materials industry and received several patents.
Jeremy A. Marvel is a research scientist and project leader at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD. Dr. Marvel received the bachelor's degree in computer science from Boston University, Boston, MA, the master's degree in computer science from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. Prior to NIST, Dr. Marvel was a research scientist at the Institute for Research in Engineering and Applied Physics at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. He joined the Intelligent Systems Division at NIST in 2012. His research interests include intelligent and adaptive solutions for robot applications, with particular attention paid to human-robot and robot-robot collaborations, multirobot coordination, industrial robot safety, machine learning, perception, and automated parameter optimization. Dr. Marvel currently leads a team of scientists and engineers in metrology efforts at NIST toward collaborative robot performance, and developing tools to enable small and medium-sized enterprises to effectively deploy robot solutions.
Elliot Forsyth is Vice President of Business Operations at the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center). He joined the organization in July 2014 and is responsible for leading strategy, marketing, and business development, including the formation and implementation of The Center's cybersecurity practice area. Prior to joining The Center, Elliot had more than 20 years of broad, global business experience with an outstanding record of leading Operations, Strategy, and HR functions.
Bill Billotte currently leads the National Security Standards program at NIST. Prior to coming to NIST in 2009, Bill was with the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command providing advise on first responder technologies and CBRNE systems to DoD and DHS. Outside of NIST, he enjoys practicing Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, running, reading and riding his Ducati.
The IRC Network consists of seven nonprofit Industrial Resource Centers located strategically throughout the Commonwealth and affiliated with the national Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP) as part of the PA MEP. Established to help manufacturers respond to changing markets, new technology and the competitive pressures of today's global economy, these Centers offer small and medium-sized businesses a wide range of services. From business growth, innovation, process improvement and training, there's little Pennsylvania's IRCs can't do to support manufacturers needs for growth.
