About:

The NIST Fingerprint Viewer 2.0 (FpMV 2.0) is designed to provide the biometric community with a modern tool for viewing fingerprint images with detected minutiae points overlaid on the fingerprint image. The minutiae detection is based on "mindtct" application from the NIST Biometric Image Software (NBIS).

Feature Highlights:

* FpMV 2.0 is now a modern, cross-platform GUI application designed to support Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
* Re-designed FPMV 2.0 GUI application from the ground up, transitioning from the Visual Studio development environment to the cross-platform Qt framework.
*FpMV 2.0 now supports minutiae detection across fingerprint images with varying pixel-per-inch (PPI) resolutions. Users are required to select the appropriate PPI value for the input fingerprint image to ensure accurate minutiae detection.
* Displays detected minutiae points overlaid on the fingerprint image, providing users with a clear visual representation of key fingerprint features, such as ridge endings and bifurcations.
* Image support: *.png *.bmp *.pbm *.pgm *.ppm *.jp2 *.wsq *.jpeg, *.jpg *.tif and *.tiff
* Supports drag-and-drop image loading, allowing users to conveniently load fingerprint images.
* Supports zooming and panning, allowing users to examine the details of the fingerprint image.
* Displays image dimensions, providing users with the width and height of the loaded fingerprint image in pixels.
* Displays the total number of minutiae detected by the NIST mindtct algorithm, providing users with an immediate summary of the minutiae identified.
* Adjusting the minutiae quality slider allows users to set the quality threshold and dynamically display only minutiae points that meet or exceed the selected value.
* Supports image brightness adjustment, allowing users to increase or decrease the fingerprint image's brightness to improve the visibility of ridge structures and other fingerprint features.
* Supports grayscale inversion of fingerprint images, allowing users to invert the image’s intensity values so that light areas appear dark and dark areas appear light.
* Supports image contrast adjustment, allowing users to increase or decrease the contrast of the fingerprint image to enhance the distinction between ridge and valley structures.
* Supports adjusting image opacity, allowing users to control the transparency of the fingerprint image.
* Supports minutiae opacity adjustment, allowing users to control the transparency level of the minutiae point(s).
* Provides interactive minutiae point information when hovering over a minutiae point, allowing users to view detailed attributes of an individual minutiae point. The displayed information includes the minutiae type, X and Y coordinates, and quality value.
* Retrieves NFIQ score based on the current image brightness and contrast for a fingerprint image that is 500ppi.
