Abstract

This work prescribes the preparation of a P25 nanoparticle dispersion in high purity deionized water, as a first step towards the preparation of nanoscale P25 dispersions in relevant biological and environmental matrices. This protocol should be used in combination with matrix-specific protocols for the preparation of P25 dispersions in more complex media. While the procedures detailed in this document focus on the dispersion of P25 in water, it is the authors contention that the adopted characterization, validation and optimization approaches can be applied to the preparation of liquid dispersions of a wide range of ENM sources in the dry powder form. For this reason, and to allow for a broader applicability of this work, experimental details and discussions on the characterization, validation and process optimization adopted for the development of the method herein are offered as appendices to this protocol.
