Abstract

This report summarizes the research and measurement science carried out during calendar year 2001 in the NIST Physics Laboratory. The Laboratory supports U.S. industry, government, and the scientific community by providing measurement services and research for electronic, optical, and radiation technology. The Laboratory provides the foundation for metrology of optical and ionizing radiation, time and frequency, and fundamental quantum processes. Area of core competence include electron and optical physics, atomic physics, optical technology, ionizing radiation measurements, time and frequency metrology, quantum physics, fundamental constants, and electronic dissemination of scientific information and evaluated reference data.
