Abstract

An MSEL Sustainability Seminar Series took place in 2009, aimed at the following goals: (1) to introduce this important subject matter to our staff and (2) to learn and discuss the metrology needs for materials for sustainability applications. Since materials sustainability is a broad subject, the twelve talks covered a broad range of materials and technologies for sustainability applications. The speakers included, among others, experts in the fields of CO2 capture and sequestration, water purification, recycling, and sustainability models for packaging and manufacturing. Some MSEL projects and activities regarding metrology and standards needs for sustainability applications have been defined as a result of this seminar series. This CDROM consists of a forward, a summary for each talk, biographies of the speakers, and the actual presentations.
