Model for Calculating Alternative Agent/Nitrogen Thermodynamic Properties

A thermodynamic model based on the extended corresponding states principle has been developed to calculate the solubilities of nitrogen in five selected agents, HFC-227ea, CF3I, FC-218, HFC-125, and CF3Br and the pressure-temperature relationship for agent/nitrogen mixtures. The model only requires four pieces of input information: (1) agent mass, (2) vessel volume, (3) fill temperature, and (4) either nitrogen mass needed to pressurize the vessel or the fill pressure of the vessel. Comparing to the experimental data obtained at 150 deg C and -60 deg C, the model predictions were generally found to be within 10% or less of the experimental measurements.
