LDPC Error Correction in the Context of Quantum Key Distribution

Abstract

Secret keys can be established through the use of Quantum channels monitored through classical channels which can be thought of as being error free. Because many of the feasible implementation of the quantum channel are subject to erasures –often massive- the «error-correction-bits» are exchanged over the classical channel after the transfer of random quantum bit values have been transmitted. This, in conjunction with the rather unique requirements concerning key-distribution requires that the error correction algorithm in use be properly adjusted.
