Abstract

This NIST Low Background Infrared (LBIR) Calibration facility has become a national center for the development and dissemination of absolute standards and their traceability for the measurement of low level infrared radiation. The five year (FY 05 to FY 09) plan for this facility described in this report addresses the maintenance of its core competence and further improvements to meet current and future requirements of customers. The customers of the LBIR facility have been the contractors of DoD for the strategic missile defense. The prime contractors for these programs are Boeing and Raytheon. Various test chambers that are used in these programs that are supported by the LBIR facility have requirements to establish NIST traceability for their infrared calibrations. This report briefly describes the tasks necessary to meet the current and future needs of our customers. Proposed timelines are given for each task.
