Internet Commerce for Manufacturing Data Staging

Abstract

This paper describes the process-flow model as proposed for use in the Internet Commerce for manufacturing (ICM), a project of the National Advanced Manufacturing Test Bed program. This model will be used to identify those internet-facilitated transactions as they are accomplished in the ICM test bed. these transactions are critical in the identification of stages where data are no longer subject to change. We note that a change to the identified data elements after passing the stage often results in scrapping of tooling or partially completed product, and further will usually require a change to the contract or bid and purchase order. These stages are the focus of the ICM just-in-time-data delivery.
