Abstract
This paper presents the results of an interlaboratory comparison and development of a magnetic moment reference material. The comparison was between the National Institute of Standards and Technology, magnetometer manufacturers, industrial, academic, and other government research laboratories. A questionnaire was included with the samples. It showed that the manufacturers of magnetometers are relatively satisfied with the existing standards. However, specific participants expressed a need for thin-film standards. Therefore, a set of thin-film low magnetic moment reference samples was produced and will be made available to determine if there is a strong demand, and help determine further development of a traceable thin-film magnetic moment standard.
