Abstract
The AEX XML Schema Reference Guide summarizes the design principles and the structures of the AEX (Automating Equipment Information eXchange) XML schemas, guidance for making schema extensions and usage guidance for those who wish to deploy the AEX schemas for electronic data exchange and sharing of equipment information in the capital facilities industries over the life cycle of a capital facility. This document includes the best practices captured from AEX deployment projects and from relevant industry experience deploying XML interoperability solutions. This reference guide is intended for both users of the AEX schema, and those who would extend the AEX schemas to new subject domains.
