Kristina Rigopoulos (Fed)

Director of Communications, Cybersecurity and Privacy

Kristina Rigopoulos has her master's degree in Communication and has spent the last 20 years developing communication methods, models, and practices for federal agencies and Fortune 50 clients. She currently serves as the Communication Director for Cybersecurity and Privacy in the Applied Cybersecurity Division at NIST and is a subject matter expert on engagement, coordination, and the development of communication materials. She brings a unique perspective to NIST because of her background in crisis communication, public relations, cybersecurity, and scientific research.

Awards

2024 Ecosystem Champion Award for helping organizations of all sizes manage cyber risk by publishing a landmark revision to the Cybersecurity Framework 2.0  as a part of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) team.

2024 ITL Outstanding Contribution for outstanding contributions to the NIST CSF 2.0 efforts, which helps reduce cybersecurity risk across the world.

2018 ITL Outstanding Administrator for improving the visibility of ITL’s cybersecurity program to diverse stakeholders through the use of new and innovative communications approaches.
