Dr. Jordan Fonseca is a physicist in the Quantum Calorimeters Group within the Quantum Sensors Division of the Physical Measurement Laboratory at NIST in Boulder. Jordan joined NIST in 2024 as a CHIPS Researcher Associate (postdoc) to advance the development of turnkey SEM-based 3D nanoscale x-ray tomography tools, which have applications in QA/QC and hardware security in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and beyond. His research interests include nanoscale device physics, nondestructive metrology, multimodal defect analysis, and optical/x-ray spectroscopy. He is passionate about developing cutting-edge metrology tools and solving complex hardware/software integration problems that enable scientists and engineers to get the most out of every measurement. His research background is in experimental condensed matter physics, tabletop continuous wave & ultrafast optical spectroscopies, 2D quantum material nanodevice fabrication and strain engineering, atomic force microscopy, and cryostat maintenance and operation. Since 2021, he has authored/coauthored 11 publications.
