Jerome is a physical science technician at NIST involved in a variety of analytical chemistry projects. Jerome’s work at NIST incorporates his previous graduate school experience in vapor sampling of volatile organic compounds, headspace analysis, solid phase microextraction (SPME), and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). He is currently researching vapor capture of odorants associated with forensically relevant compounds to create improved canine training aid materials. In addition, he performs quantitative NMR (qNMR) assessments as needed within the group to determine the chemical purity of various neat organic materials. He is also developing SPME and GC/MS based methods as part of the CSD Cannabis research program.
