Dr. Farhad Omar is an electrical engineer in the Mechanical Systems & Control Group of the Building Energy and Environment Division (BEED) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He is the principal investigator of the Electrical Performances of Building-Interactive Efficient Buildings research project. His research interests are power quality, modeling, simulation, control, and optimization of building loads with a smart electric grid. Dr. Omar is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
