Stormwater Management at NIST Gaithersburg Program

At NIST-Gaithersburg, stormwater is regulated by a General Permit from the Maryland Department of the Environment. This suborder defines the stormwater management requirements for the NIST-Gaithersburg Site, which include control of discharges to the stormwater system, maintenance of existing stormwater management facilities, general housekeeping, and erosion and sediment control during construction efforts.

Stormwater quality complaints should be reported to OSHE at (301) 975-5375, Option 3. Spills and chemical releases must be reported to Emergency Services at (301) 975-2222.  See Authorized and Restricted Discharges section below to determine when to call.
