Laser Safety Program

The NIST laser safety program requires that all lasers and laser systems are operated in a manner consistent with ANSI Z136.1 as well as other applicable standards and regulations. These requirements include identification of direct and ancillary hazards, implementation of engineering and administrative controls, proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), establishment of control areas, signage, and training.
