Abstract
The National Institute of Standards and Technology, in conjunction with the Measurement Science Conference, conducted an industry-needs workshop on February 4, 1998, on issues with U.S. manufacturing companies, particularly smaller ones, may have in meeting their needs to demonstrate traceability of their dimensional measurements to the international and national standard of length. The workshop was attended by twenty persons representing a cross-section of organizations of the type with strong institutional interests in the issue. The dissemination of information about the new requirement of traceability for statements of uncertainty and a role for NIST in facilitating, leading, or providing an element of the education, training, or dissemination of information regarding traceability and measurement uncertainty associated with that need.Citation
