Abstract
Representations of manufacturing process capabilities are essential for the integration of manufacturing applications as well as the dynamic management of factory data. This survey presents methodologies for describing and using such information. Current practices in industry are identified. Standards and research efforts related to representing manufacturing process capabilities are described. Finally, a course of action for advancing current practices is presented.
