Author(s)

Abstract

This document resulted from a request at an International Atomic Energy Agency Consultants' Meeting. Information is based on a document Foundationsand future of detection and quantification limits prepared for the 1996 Proceedings of the Joint Statistical Meetings, published by the American Statistical Association. Numerical examples were added to this version to meet their intent to incorporate this in a manual for their own laboratories and those of their member states. In this regard it was necessary to follow the strict guidelines of an international agency inpreparing a manual for their use.
