Six local employees of the National Institute of Standards and Technology were honored today with the Eugene Casson Crittenden Award. The award, established in 1967, recognizes superior achievement by employees who perform supporting services. The awardees are:
- Jeffrey R. Anderson, Glassblower, Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory, for superior scientific glassblowing achievements with all types of glass and for comprehensive knowledge of glass properties. He has worked on projects ranging from an ozone detection project to experiments at the NIST Cold Neutron Facility.
- John W. Breeden, Supervisory Automotive Mechanic, Administration, for customer-friendly contributions for transportation and maintenance services offered to NIST customers, most notably the NIST shuttle services and the alternatively fueled vehicle program.
- V. Kay Cope, Accounting Technician, Administration, for expert knowledge of NIST's accounting system that has played a key role in the agency receiving unqualified audit opinions for its annual financial statement audits.
- Calvin R. Cox, Materials Expediter, Administration, for coordinating and expediting the processing of material for construction and renovation projects at NIST, enabling the agency to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Dwayne R. Damuth, Lead Police Officer, Administration, for outstanding public service and police work throughout the NIST Gaithersburg facility.
- Kathye M. Trenary, Personnel Assistant, Administration, for exemplary service to NIST employees. She provides excellent customer service to employees and management at all levels.
As a non-regulatory agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration, NIST strengthens the U.S. economy and improves the quality of life by working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements and standards through four partnerships: the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the Measurement and Standards Laboratories, the Advanced Technology Program, and the Baldrige National Quality Program.
