The American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Analytical Chemistry (ANYL) received the 2026 ACS ChemLuminary Award for Best Activity or Program Highlighting ACS Change Driver(s) or Strategic Planning in recognition of the Fall 2025 ACS Presidential Symposium, which was successfully organized and led by Bryant C. Nelson of the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory and Anna G. Cavinato of Eastern Oregon University.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) ChemLuminary Awards honor the best examples of programming, outreach, and operations across the chemical sciences community. The Committee on Strategic Alignment (CSA) awarded the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry (ANYL) the 2026 ChemLuminary Award for Best Activity or Program Highlighting ACS Change Driver(s) or Strategic Planning. The award recognized the Fall 2025 ACS Presidential Symposium, “The Future of Measurement Science: Instrumentation, Methods, and Data Analytics,” organized and led by Bryant C. Nelson, Chair of the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry, and Anna G. Cavinato of Eastern Oregon University.
The symposium united instrument manufacturers, leading scientists, and end-users to explore the future of measurement science. Discussions focused on potential developments in analytical instrumentation, methods, and data analytics within an ecosystem that fosters innovation through public-private partnerships. The event featured commentary from two former NIST Directors (Willie E. May and Laurie E. Locascio), the former Chair of the National Science Board and former NIST scientist (Victor R. McCrary), and scientific visionaries from selected critical emerging technology industries. The symposium was exceptionally well-attended and celebrated for directly supporting all four ACS strategic goals:
