Dominick Mendez (Assoc)

Lab Metrology Research Intern

Mr. Mendez is a 2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program Intern at the NIST Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) Laboratory Metrology Program.

Mr. Mendez is a current college student at the University of Maryland: Baltimore County, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Physics, with hopes of using his experiences to continue Chemistry research in academia. His hope is that through these advances in science and in education, he can conduct other students in STEM to make even bigger strides in the inorganic sciences.

Mr. Mendez is focused on the assessing the stability of OWM-owned PT artifacts, from mass standards to slicker plate test measures, over time to ensure that laboratories doing critical work to advance science can rely on proper standards for their proficiency tests.
