Shelby Bowers (Fed)
Communications Director, Material Measurement Laboratory
Shelby (Geraci) Bowers is the Communications Director for the Material Measurement Laboratory (MML) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this role, she leads the laboratory’s communications and digital content efforts, including editing and publishing MML’s newsletter via GovDelivery, managing internal and external web content through the Drupal content management system, and coordinating and hosting MML office hours.
Shelby serves as MML’s Information Coordinator and is a member of the NIST Website Taxonomy Committee. She is also the laboratory’s primary account manager for Slido, Adobe Stock, Google Analytics, and the internal NIST YouTube platform.
Prior to joining MML, Shelby worked in the NIST Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) as Publications Coordinator, where she edited, formatted, and published OWM’s newsletter, NIST Handbooks 44, 130, and 133, and the NCWM Annual Report.
Shelby holds a master’s degree in communications and has more than a decade of experience in government, corporate, and higher education communications. She also teaches communications and writing courses online as an adjunct professor.
