AWARD CITATION

Dr. Stavis is recognized for his contributions to the measurement of nanoparticle characteristics and behavior. His work enables measurements that are important in areas as diverse as protein-based therapeutics and oil recovery. He has advanced the state of the art by combining sophisticated micro- and nano-fluidic devices, complex particle-tracking and fluorescence microscopy methods, and detailed theoretical analysis to provide deep insight into the properties of nanostructures ranging from DNA to nanoparticles. The metrology tools he has developed are already finding application in quality control for chemotherapeutic agents.
