2018 William P. Slichter Award

Dr. Ilic is recognized for his development of a new software package, the Nanolithography Toolbox, that resolves problems associated with the computer-aided design (CAD) and subsequent fabrication of curved structures. Such structures are critical to the successful development of on-chip nanophotonic devices that enable future high-speed computers. Since its release in 2016, the software has been downloaded over 1,500 times, and adopted by major U.S. semiconductor CAD companies, such as Cadence; producers of photonic device simulation software, such as Lumerical; and by a host of industrial and academic users, accelerating research and the commercial deployment of products ranging from high-speed computer chips to medical diagnostic devices.
