Katya Delak (Fed)

Katya Delak has responsibilities at two NIST offices, serving both the Office of Weights and Measures of the Physical Measurement Laboratory and the Computer Security Division of NIST’s Information Technology Laboratory. In the Office of Weights and Measures she is a contributor to the work of the International Organization of Legal Metrology in chairing the subgroup on smart standards under the OIML Digitalisation Task Group and in convening a new project on DC Electricity Meters.  She also is the U.S. representative to numerous project groups including those developing D31 General Requirements for Software Controlled Measuring Instruments, R46 Electricity Meters and the upcoming revision of G22 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, where she coordinates and presents the U.S. technical position in the development of these guidance documents. She is also involved with digitalization efforts at NIST and supports activities dedicated towards establishing traceability of and guidance for evaluation of EVSEs. 

In the Computer Security Division she coordinates the work of researchers focusing on blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, helping to provide context for this research and how it can inform policy. She participates in ISO TC 307 Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies and contributes to interagency efforts on digital assets. More recently, she has become involved in projects on digital identity.

Previously, Katya Delak served as an International Affairs Officer in the International and Academic Affairs Office (IAAO). She was responsible for NIST representation on the U.S. – Egypt Joint Board Program, supported NIST representation on the board of the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Fund, and managed the proposal review process for the U.S. component of the U.S.-Israel Bi-National Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation awards. She also managed numerous bilateral relationships with research institutions abroad.
