AWARD CITATION

Dr. Hoehler is recognized for the development and practical application of two innovative technologies that have significantly improved visual data collection in large fires. The advances allow for immersive, high-resolution 360° video to be captured inside of the extreme environment of a fire and for the imaging of objects that were previously not visible in the yellow/orange flames His work has revolutionized how fire-related phenomena are measured and provides powerful video content from previously inaccessible perspectives that is being used for understanding fundamental fire science and educating first responders and the public about fire science.
