2020 Bronze Medal Award

AWARD CITATION

Dr. Gu is recognized for her significant contributions to improving the service life and performance of photovoltaic (PV) systems.  Through her groundbreaking research to uncover the origins of premature failures, as well as her leadership of the NIST/Industry PV Consortium, Dr. Gu has led the development of national and international standards and test methods to extend the lifetime PV solar panels.  Her work has resulted in innovative tools to enable improved material decisions which have been widely adopted across the U.S. photovoltaic solar panel industry, which projects over $300B of investment over the next decade.
