Join us on Tuesday September 26th, at our NEW RECURRING MEETING TIME for the NICE Community Coordinating Council (fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 5:00pm ET). We will not meet in August.
In case you missed last month's meeting, the minutes from the July 26, 2023, NICE Community Coordinating Council meeting have been published. The meeting included speakers from Moreno Valley Unified School District, Gartner, Towson University, Virginia Tech, and more!
Take a look at some key highlights from our meeting:
Alex Michaels from Gartner shared a presentation on Building a Culture of Security Consciousness, a report that introduces a framework that includes practices, influences, and platforms which all surround a security behavior and culture program.
Terry Downing-Harris from Towson University presented on Integrating Secure Supply Chain Risk Management into Software Engineering Curriculum. The proposed approach will aim to design learning modules that fit easily into any software engineering course.
Donna Woods from the Moreno Valley Unified School District shared how the district is using the NICE Framework to create cybersecurity academic pathways. Students are taught how to use the framework to aid in career development.
Ramoni Lasisi from the Virginia Military Institute provided a briefing on a proposed Cybersecurity Workforce Readiness Recommender System (CyberReco). The system attempts to identify "readiness gaps" - the cybersecurity knowledge and skills one needs to gain to be workforce-ready.
The NEW Diversity and Inclusion Community of Interest is being led by co-chairs Zach Oxendine (Microsoft) and Dr. Deanne Cranford-Wesley (North Carolina Central University).
Over the next month, the Transform Learning Process Working Group and K12 Cybersecurity Education Community of Interest will be finalizing their new project charter for recognizing faculty who teach cybersecurity.
The Apprenticeships in Cybersecurity Community of Interest is working on updating the apprenticeship one pager and will soon have a draft for the group to review.
