Learn about the Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)-supported effort at the NIST Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) to develop a comprehensive 5-day electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) metrology training program that will include webinars, targeted learning modules, and both classroom and laboratory lectures and hands-on training. An overview of the NETL/OWM collaboration and its role in meeting the 97% uptime charging goal for U.S. EVSE infrastructure will be provided. The training program will enable state weights and measures officials and other stakeholders to ensure equity in the EV charging market through compliance with commercial standards developed by state regulators and members of the U.S. EVSE industry. The NIST training program will primarily be designed to train weights and measures officials who will be both conducting inspections and instructing state regulators on the metrological testing of commercial EV charging stations. Additionally, the course is intended for state metrology laboratories, state weights and measures regulatory officials, and other key industry and equipment manufacturer stakeholders and covers the following key areas that underpin sound measurements in commerce:
