NIST/ASTM Workshop on Fatigue and Fracture in Additively Manufactured Materials

ASTM/NIST Workshop on Mechanical Behavior of Additive Manufactured Components

ASTM May 2016 Committee Week

Wednesday, May 04 2016 to Thursday, May 05 2016

Grand Hyatt San Antonio; San Antonio, TX

About the Event

A Workshop on Mechanical Behavior of Additive Manufactured Components will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 and Thursday, May 5, 2016. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E08 on Fatigue and Fracture in conjunction with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the workshop will be held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, TX, in conjunction with the ASTM May standards development meetings.

While the field of additive manufacturing has many workshops and conferences, the fatigue and fracture behavior of components fabricated using AM has received little attention. This workshop will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding the AM metal fatigue and fracture behavior in an effort to help focus future research and standardization efforts and best serve the AM community.

  • Fatigue and fracture behavior of AM metal materials and components
  • Current needs, barriers, and possible solutions to achieve broader acceptance and use of AM metals in fatigue and fracture critical applications
  • Fatigue and fracture standards for AM
  • Nondestructive evaluation of AM materials and components

Who Should Attend

This Workshop is designed for professionals in all aspects of the AM community interested in fatigue and fracture of AM metals: industrial (aerospace, medical, defense, etc), academic, government, regulatory, and funding agencies.

Technical Program

A technical program will be posted on the ASTM website by March 2016

Online registration opens approximately 8 weeks before the workshop (early-mid March) and closes April 27, 2016.Two separate registrations are necessary for Wednesday and Thursday. This workshop is free for ASTM members, and only a small fee ($25) is required of non-members.
