Biography of Essex Brown

Human Resources (HR) Director, Essex Brown Bio:

Essex Brown currently serves as the Acting Director for the Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) which provides a variety of HR services and solutions to assist client organizations in recruiting and retaining a highly qualified and diverse workforce. OHRM's primary customers include NIST and National Technical Information Service (NTIS) managers, supervisors, and employees.  

His career in public service started with an internship for the City of Takoma Park, Maryland (Metropolitan Washington Council of Government), where he worked in accounting and personnel.  As an intern for the Office of the Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon, Essex rotated through various administrative organizations, learning more about the field of human resources.  His service includes stints with the Food and Drug Administration, the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Department of Transportation where his duties included oversight of other administrative functions such as human resources.

Essex was educated at Mississippi Valley State and Howard Universities, with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration. Essex is most proud of the fact that he has helped thousands of people to enjoy careers in public service.
