NIST's National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) is a partnership between government, academia, and the private sector focused on cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development. Located in the Information Technology Laboratory at NIST, the NICE Program Office operates under the Applied Cybersecurity Division, positioning the program to support the country’s ability to address current and future cybersecurity challenges through standards and best practices.
The mission of NICE is to energize and promote a robust network and an ecosystem of cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development. NICE fulfills this mission by coordinating with government, academic, and industry partners to build on existing successful programs, facilitate change and innovation, and bring leadership and vision to increase the number of skilled cybersecurity professionals helping to keep our Nation secure.
The Federal Information Security Educators (FISSEA), founded in 1987, is an organization run by and for Federal government information security professionals to assist Federal agencies in strengthening their employee cybersecurity awareness and training programs. FISSEA conducts an annual fee-based conference. FISSEA strives to elevate the general level of information security knowledge for the federal government and the federally-related workforce. FISSEA serves as a professional forum for the exchange of information and improvement of information systems security awareness, training, and education programs throughout the federal government. It also seeks to provide for the professional development of community members.
