Britta Voss has been an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow with the NIST Public Safety Communications Research division since September 2017. She holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography and a B.S. from the University of Washington. She dabbles in crowdsourcing and artificial intelligence by submitting observations of groundhogs and other wildlife on the NIST campuses to an app that identifies wildlife using computer vision.
