Brian first started working at NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland, as an undergraduate student in 2004, an experience that inspired his decision to enter graduate school. After an 8-year hiatus to obtain a Ph.D. in applied physics at the Colorado School of Mines and complete a postdoc appointment at the University of Utah, he is happy to be back at NIST, only this time in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado. He is an avid rock climber and ski mountaineer and is exquisitely mediocre at both.
