Malign Foreign Recruitment/Placement Programs and Non Traditional Collectors

NIST Research Security Training: Malign Foreign Talent Programs and Non-Traditional Collectors
NIST Research Security Training: Malign Foreign Talent Programs and Non-Traditional Collectors
Research security training is crucial for protecting science in a competitive global landscape. Key topics include safeguarding international science, understanding non-traditional information collectors, and recognizing risks from foreign recruitment. The discussion emphasizes the need for a strong research security framework to protect US economic and national security, as well as researchers' intellectual property. Best practices for effective science protection are also highlighted. ##ResearchSecurity #IntellectualProperty #InternationalCollaboration #NISTIR8484 #ForeignRecruitment"

NIST Research Security Training: NIST IR 8484 Research Security Framework
Research security training is crucial for protecting science in a competitive global landscape. This session emphasizes the importance of safeguarding international science through the NIST IR 8484 framework—a comprehensive set of best practices for protecting collaborative research. Key topics include risk assessment and management, transparency in international collaborations, disclosure of foreign affiliations, and compliance with federal policies such as NSPM-33 and the CHIPS and Science Act. The session underscores the role of institutional culture, clear communication, and strategic mitigation in protecting intellectual property and critical technologies while enabling open and secure scientific collaboration.

Research Security Plan and Program

NIST Research Security Training: Research Security Plan and Program
NIST Research Security Training: Research Security Plan and Program
A research security plan is the first step toward an implemented research security program. A research security program is crucial for protecting science in a competitive global landscape. This session emphasizes how to develop a research security plan based off of the NIST IR 8484 Research Security Framework —a comprehensive set of best practices for protecting collaborative research. A research security plan and implemented program meets the research security requirements of Federal Initiatives (e.g., NSPM-33, CHIPS and Science Act, and SBIR/STTR Due Diligence Act).

Key topics include safeguarding science through research security and developing a research security plan and program to address compliance with federal policies such as NSPM-33, SBIR/STTR Due Diligence Act and the CHIPS and Science Act. The session underscores using a research security plan and program to protect national security, economic security, and intellectual property of federally funding critical technologies research and development while enabling open and secure scientific collaboration.
