Abstract
This report describes the World Trade organization (WTO) Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) activities conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), for calendar year 1997. NIST received and processed 796 notifications of proposed technical requlations; reported 26 proposed U.S. technical regulations to the WTO Secretariat; responded to 262 inquiries for notification information; participated in various bilateral and multilateral standards-related trade discussions; and responded to inquiries on the existence, source and availability of standards and standards-related information.Citation
